STAGE 1: 5 TO 10 WHP, NO PARTS
STAGE 2: 10 TO 13 WHP WITH AN EXHAUST
STAGE 3: TURBO OR SUPERCHARGER, CUSTOM CALIBRATION
VW MK4 Golf and Jetta and the New Beetle 2.0 8v with drive-by-wire throttle, engine codes AVH, AZG, BEV, BBW and BGD on Bosch ME7.5 and ME7.1.1. Pick your stage in the dropdown. The calibration is written for your engine code and your hardware. Not sure which code you have? Find your engine code in two minutes.
Not sure if you have drive-by-wire? Look for a throttle cable running to the intake manifold. No cable means drive-by-wire, and this is your listing. A cable means the earlier AEG, which has its own listing.
Written for 91 or 93 octane pump gas. The first thing you feel is the throttle. The factory drive-by-wire map is deliberately lazy, and the calibration takes that out: the car answers the pedal instead of thinking about it. Ignition timing is set for your fuel, the rev limiter is raised, the speed limiter is removed, and mileage improves when you are not in it. 2-step launch control and no-lift shift are available. Tested on the street and the track to be smooth yet powerful. The 2.0 8v is not a hero engine, and the tune does not pretend it is. It fixes the lazy factory feel and makes the car pull harder where you actually drive it.

| Stage | Needs | Gain | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stage 1 | stock car, no parts | 5 to 10 whp | $299.99 |
| Stage 2 | an exhaust upgrade. The calibration is built around the extra airflow, so do not run it on a stock exhaust | 10 to 13 whp | $299.99 |
| Stage 2 Custom | cams, 100 octane, high compression, a stroker, or any naturally aspirated combination outside the normal recipe | custom | add $100 |
| Stage 3 | turbo or supercharger, with injectors to match. Neuspeed supercharger calibrations are ready to go | custom | add $150 |
Stage 1 is the easy win. Stage 2 is the sweet spot. Stage 2 Custom is for serious naturally aspirated builds, and Stage 3 is for the people willing to deal with boost. Read the 2.0L 8v Tuning Guide for the long version.
Prefer to mail the ECU in? Mail-in is free within the USA and Canada. We flash it on the bench and send it back in one to three days. Local? An OBD flash at the shop takes 10 to 15 minutes. How remote tuning works, start to finish.
Tuning since 2010, as Gonzo Tuning first and as GTS since 2013. Every calibration is written in house and the flashing tool is ours, not a rebadged package, and we never ask for remote access to your computer. Your original calibration is kept, so the car can go back to stock whenever you want it to. Reflashes carry a one-year warranty, and if you are not happy within 30 days you can go back to stock for a refund under our return policy. Support in English and Spanish.
Canadian owners have ordered from us since 2014 and Canada is our second-largest market. The tune is delivered digitally, the cable is delivered within Canada with no customs and no import fees, we accept Canadian cards, and return shipping on a mail-in ECU is free. Anywhere else in the world, remote tuning needs the car, the cable and an internet connection, nothing else. We have tuned cars in Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Hungary, Puerto Rico, Panama, Costa Rica and Barbados.
