Privacy Policy
This policy covers tunedbygts.com, the GTS flashing software and the emails we send. It says what we collect, why, who sees it and what you can do about it. We do not sell your information.
The short version: we collect what it takes to sell you a tune, write it for your car and support it. Card numbers go to our payment processor, not to us. The software reads your ECU and sends us the calibration on it, nothing else from your computer. Google Analytics, the Meta Pixel and a chat widget run on the site. Email us to see, correct or delete what we hold.
What we collect
When you order or open an account: your name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping address, what you bought, your IP address, and your browser type and language. Card details are entered on our payment processor's secure page and go to the processor. We never see or store a card number.
When you tune remotely: the GTS software reads your ECU and sends us the calibration on it, the ECU's identifier, the version of the software and of Windows it is running on, and your IP address. The calibration read from the ECU carries the vehicle identification number and immobilizer data, because that is how the factory stores it. We keep your original calibration so the car can go back to stock. The software talks to the ECU and to us and reads nothing else on your computer. Sign-ins to the software, including failed ones, are logged with the email entered, the IP address and the browser.
When you write to us: your emails, the logs you send and, if you use the chat widget, the conversation.
When you browse: cookies that keep your cart and your login working, and the analytics and advertising cookies described below.
When you post a review: the review and the name you enter are shown on the product page.
What we use it for
- Filling your order, writing and revising your calibration, and shipping the cable or a part.
- Support, warranty claims and returns.
- Order and account emails, and a reminder if you started a checkout and did not finish it. Every reminder has an unsubscribe link.
- Our newsletter, if you opted in. You can turn it off on your account page or by asking us.
- Records we need for tax, accounting, fraud prevention and payment disputes.
- Understanding how the site is used and measuring our advertising.
Who we share it with
- Our payment processor: takes card payments on its own secure page and receives your name, email address, billing address and card details.
- The shipping carrier: receives your name, address and phone number to deliver the cable or a part.
- Google: Google Analytics measures how the site is used.
- Meta: the Meta Pixel measures how our Facebook and Instagram advertising performs.
- Tawk.to: runs the chat widget and stores chat conversations.
- Cloudflare: sits in front of the site for speed and security and sees the traffic that reaches it.
- Zoho: sends our order, account and reminder emails.
Each of these handles your information under its own privacy policy. We share it with nobody else unless the law requires it, and we do not sell it. We never ask for remote access to your computer.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
The cart and login cookies are needed for the store to work. Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel set their own cookies to recognize a browser across visits. You can block or clear cookies in your browser, install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on, and manage advertising in your Facebook ad preferences. The site does not respond to Do Not Track signals. The opt-outs above work regardless.
How long we keep it
- Orders, invoices and payment records: for as long as tax and accounting rules require.
- Your calibrations and the original read from your ECU: for as long as your license is active, so that revisions and a return to stock stay possible.
- Support emails and logs: for as long as they are useful for supporting your car.
- Analytics data: under Google's and Meta's retention settings.
Your choices
- Stop the cart reminders with the link in the email. Stop the newsletter on your account page, or ask us and we do it.
- Email us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. We delete what we can and keep what we must for tax, warranty and payment dispute records, and we tell you which is which.
- Residents of California and other states with privacy laws have the right to know what we collect, to have it deleted, and to know that we do not sell it. The same requests work for customers in Canada and elsewhere. Email us and we answer within the time the law allows.
Children
The site and the software are for adults with cars. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16, and we delete it if we learn we have.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS. Card numbers never touch our servers. Access to the GTS software needs your account, and we log sign-ins. No system is perfect, and if a breach affects your information we tell you.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top tells you when we last did.
