GTS calibrations are developed for vehicles with all factory emissions equipment intact and functional. Features that remove or raise factory speed and rev limits are intended for closed-course use only. These calibrations are not CARB-certified, and the customer is responsible for compliance with all applicable laws, including the emissions and inspection requirements of their jurisdiction.
The GTS difference: a real tune built for your exact car, not one calibration with three names on a dropdown. We’ve got the injectors and turbo kits to back it up, and the in-house support to actually run it. Tuning VW, Audi & Porsche since 2010. Why we're different ›

STAGE 1: 260 HP / 300 LB-FT
STAGE 2: 280 HP / 330 LB-FT
STAGE 3: 350 HP / 370 LB-FT ON A K04

Fits

Audi B8 and B8.5 A4, A5 and Q5 2.0T, the longitudinal EA888 Gen 2 with the Audi Valvelift System (AVS) on the factory IHI turbo, engine codes CAEB, CAED, CDNC, CPMA and CPMB. CAEB is the 2009-2012 car at 211 hp, and it stayed on the 2013 A4 with a manual or front drive. CPMA is the 2013 quattro automatic, also 211 hp. The 2014-2016 B8.5 makes 220 hp: CAED on the manual and front-drive cars, CPMB on the quattro automatics. CDNC is the rest-of-world twin of the CAEB, 2008-2013. The CPMA and CPMB are flex fuel from the factory, with a metal intake manifold and a fifth injector. Pick your stage in the dropdown. The calibration is written for your engine code and your hardware, and it is its own calibration, not the GTI tune. Not sure which code you have? Find your engine code in two minutes.

Not this listing: the transverse 2.0T TSI in the MK5 and MK6 GTI, Jetta, Tiguan, VW CC, Passat, Audi A3 8P and the Gen 2 CCZ family is on the transverse Gen 1 and Gen 2 listing. An A4 B7 2.0T (BPG, BWT) is the EA113 FSI and has its own listing. The CDNB, the 180 hp rest-of-world base engine, is on no listing yet, so talk to us first. The B9 and later cars are the EA888 Gen 3, covered in the EA888 Gen 3 guide. The EA888 Gen 1 and 2 Tuning Guide shows which one you have.

What the tune does

Written for 91 or 93 octane pump gas. Stage 1 takes a stock car to 260 hp and 300 lb-ft on the factory turbo with no parts: a clean, strong gain that wakes up a heavy quattro car, the part-throttle response most of all. Stage 2 goes to 280 hp and 330 lb-ft once the intake and exhaust are on, and that is the ceiling on the stock turbo. Stage 3 is a longitudinal-specific K04 kit, and it carries the car to 350 hp and 370 lb-ft. Every stage: lag removed, speed limiter raised, rev limit raised to 7000, and better mileage when you are not in it. Tested on the street and the track to be smooth yet powerful.

The CPMA and CPMB are flex fuel cars. Planning to run ethanol on a tuned one? Talk to us first.

Stages on this listing

StagePowerNeedsPrice
Stage 1260 hp / 300 lb-ftstock car, no parts$399.99
Stage 2280 hp / 330 lb-ftintake and exhaust, upgraded diverter valve recommended, and a clutch upgrade on manual cars. Built around the extra airflow, so do not run it on a stock caradd $50
Stage 3350 hp / 370 lb-fta longitudinal-specific K04 kit, plus the Stage 2 hardware. Stock fueling covers a base K04 on pump gasadd $150
Stage 4custom, built for your turbobig turbo with the in-tank pump, high-pressure pump internals and injectors upgraded together. Talk to us before you buy partsadd $250

Stage 1 wakes up a heavy quattro car on a simple flash. Stage 2 takes the stock turbo to its ceiling. Stage 3 carries the car into the mid-300s on a K04. Stage 4 is for the people who decided the K04 was not enough either.

What you need on the car

  • Stage 1: nothing. Stage 1 runs on a completely stock car.
  • Stage 2: an aftermarket intake and exhaust. The calibration is built around the improved airflow. An upgraded diverter valve is recommended from Stage 2 up: the revised piston-style Rev D on the 2009-2012 cars, and the latest revision of the piston valve the 2013 and later B8.5 already has. A manual car needs a clutch upgrade to hold the extra torque.
  • Stage 3: a longitudinal-specific K04 kit, with its own exhaust manifold and turbine housing made for the B8. Not the transverse K04-64 and not the B7 EA113 setup. Plus the Stage 2 intake, exhaust and diverter valve. The factory fuel system handles a base K04 on pump gas, so nothing else has to change on the day. Hybrid K04s are supported too.
  • Stage 4: custom work by nature, and we write big-turbo software for the B8. A big turbo, and the fuel system upgraded as a set: the in-tank pump, which cannot hold feed pressure to the high-pressure pump at high demand, the high-pressure pump internals, for the volume a big turbo or an ethanol tune needs, and injectors, because the factory direct injectors max out around 400 hp. Past a K04, or on ethanol, these go in together, not one at a time. We carry the hardware and will spec exactly what your target needs. Talk to us before you buy parts.
  • Before any stage, the EA888 Gen 1 and 2 weak spots: the timing chain tensioner is the single most important item on these engines. Engines built up to about 2012 used a tensioner that can fail and let the chain jump a tooth, and on an interference engine that is catastrophic. Go by the part number, not the model year: if there is no record of the revised 06K 109 467 K, replace it before you tune. The PCV diaphragm tears: vacuum leaks, a rough idle, misfires and a whistle, and a failed PCV pressurizes the crankcase and pushes out the rear main seal. P0299, the underboost code, is common even on stock cars: check the diverter valve, then for a boost leak, then the wastegate, which Audi wrote a bulletin for on the 2009-2012 B8. The 2009-2011 cars are known for burning oil, so check how much yours uses between changes before you tune. Carbon on the intake valves is maintenance on every direct-injection 2.0T: plan on a walnut blast every 60,000 to 80,000 miles. The plastic water pump and thermostat housing leak on higher-mileage cars, so check them. A torn PCV or a split diverter valve looks like a bad tune. If the car feels off after a flash, send us a log first. The long version of every item is in the guide.

After you order

  1. Order. Pick your stage, then choose Remote Tuning. A GTS cable ships with your order for a one-time $40 and it is yours to keep for every tune after this one. Already have one? Choose "I already have a GTS Remote Tuning cable".
  2. Read. Plug the cable into the OBD port and a Windows laptop, Windows 10 or later. An Intel Mac on Boot Camp works too. Our software identifies your ECU and saves your original calibration before anything is written.
  3. Flash. We build the calibration for your car, your hardware and your fuel. You get a message the moment it is ready, and you flash it yourself in your driveway in about ten minutes.
  4. Log. Drive, log, send. If anything wants adjusting we adjust it and you flash again. Stage 3 and Stage 4 usually take a revision or two to dial in for the exact hardware and fuel. Revisions usually come back the same day, and within 72 hours at the outside.

Prefer to mail the ECU in? Mail-in is free within the USA and Canada. We flash it on the bench and send it back in two to three days. Local? An OBD flash at the shop takes 10 to 15 minutes. How remote tuning works, start to finish.

Options explained

  • Stage: pick from the table above. Stage 1 for a stock car, Stage 2 once the intake and exhaust are on, Stage 3 for a longitudinal K04 kit, Stage 4 for a big turbo build.
  • 2 Step / Antilag: hard 2-step launch control with antilag, an add-on for off-road and competition use. Leave the box unchecked if you do not want it.
  • Mail or Remote Tuning: remote is what most owners pick. Own cable if you have tuned with us before. Mail-in if you would rather not touch a laptop. Dealer if a shop is doing the install for you, and we deal with them directly.

Why GTS

Tuning since 2010, as Gonzo Tuning first and as GTS since 2013. Every calibration is written in house and the flashing tool is ours, not a rebadged package, and we never ask for remote access to your computer. Your original calibration is kept, so the car can go back to stock whenever you want it to. Reflashes carry a one-year warranty, and if you are not happy within 30 days you can go back to stock for a refund under our return policy. Support in English and Spanish.

Ordering from Canada or overseas

Canadian owners have ordered from us since 2014 and Canada is our second-largest market. The tune is delivered digitally, the cable is delivered within Canada with no customs and no import fees, we accept Canadian cards, and return shipping on a mail-in ECU is free. Anywhere else in the world, remote tuning needs the car, the cable and an internet connection, nothing else. We have tuned cars in Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Hungary, Puerto Rico, Panama, Costa Rica and Barbados.
